The Hatchimal watch is on and the lines are long at the stores that are promising a new shipment of these "must have" toys during the 2016 Christmas season. As soon as a Hatchimal shipment hits a store these self-hatching toys are spoken for by the people waiting for hours and even overnight to get their hands on one. Knowing where to go to stand in that line for the next Hatchimal sale frenzy is crucial for parents who feel compelled to put the favorite toy of this holiday season under their tree.

Shipments still arriving

Walmart, Toys R Us and Target are expecting shipments of the Hatchimals before Christmas. With Target expecting a shipment as soon as today, Sunday December 11. Target is also looking at shipments for their stores this weekend and Walmart continues to get supplies on a constant basis as the manufacturer scurries to whip them up.

The nation's largest retail store Walmart still has shipments arriving and by calling one of the 17,000 local stores this will give you a good idea as to their ETA.

The same goes for Target and Toys R Us, call ahead to get the jump on the line.

Once you've done that, now it's time to make your battle plan. This should include pouring some hot coffee into a thermos, packing a sandwich or some snacks and dressing for the weather in your area. Hitting the line with a comfortable folding chair in tow is highly recommended by the people who have been there and done that!

Your next step is to go get in a line where you will meet like-minded strangers all with the common goal of taking home one or multiple Hatchimals.

Walmart, Target and Toys R Us

Unlike eBay and sites on Amazon, you won't pay top dollar for these Hatchimals at Walmart. Their $48.88 sticker price remains the same for the toys no matter how much supply in demand tends to push the price up elsewhere The same goes for Target and Toys R Us, where a Hatchimal is sold for a set price of $59.99. Top dollar for one of these toys actually sold on eBay for $19,999.99, according to the Inquisitr. This is way out of reach for the average parent.

In this case, you may want to join in on the long lines and long wait for the Hatchimals, like the people in the tweet below:

Hefty price for purchasing online Hatchimals

Walmart is out of the Hatchimals online, but on their website is a marketplace selling the toys for $200, which is still ludicrous for a $50 toy.

Depending upon just how badly you want to get your hands on one, this is probably the cheapest way to go without having to endure the long lines. The Hatchimal watch is on and while there are plenty of places online to purchase one, you might need to take a second mortgage out on your house to pay for the toy.

What is so fascinating about a bird in an egg?

The end game of this interactive toy is a bird, but you don't know the color or style because it comes in a solid egg. Once you start holding, rubbing and coddling the egg it literally starts to hatch, as seen in the video below.

Your bird is hatched!

Your kids are in charge of making a constant movement of the egg for about 30 minutes, which starts the nose moving in and out in a tapping motion. The bird makes circles inside the egg and literally taps around the egg shell until the top of the shell comes off and the bird emerges. The bird makes all kinds of movements and noises. It is the hatching of the egg that seems to pull the kids in for this "must have" toy of the season...the Hatchimals.
