Donald Trump, the republican candidate will be the next president of the United States. The candidate, Donald Trump, has shocked the entire United states, and the rest of the world in the defeat of Democrat Hillary Clinton in the United States presidential 2016 election.

Trump, a populist, sexist business man, with a xenophobic and anti-system speech, will be the next president of the United States. With massive support from white, uneducated, middle-aged and old Americans, Trump turned down all the polls and achieved a victory that very few expected. No one like Trump could understand the establishment with which Clinton is identified.

The populist wave of the world has reached the White House.

Hope for the first woman president faded

While the world was hoping to see the first woman in the US presidency, after having an African-American president, the unexpected happened: voters chose Donald Trump, a demagogue, a man who has revived some of the country's darkest traditions, who has placed insult and disqualification at the center of political discourse, an admirer of Vladimir Putin.

Donald Trump's arrival at the White House may be a break with some of the US's democratic traditions, such as respect for minorities and the quiet alternation between rulers who disagree with his views on the country. Trump, who has promised to build a wall on the Mexican border and ban Muslims from entering the US, has shown that a man practically alone, against everything and everyone, without relying on multi-million dollar donors, is able to reach the World powerhouse.

From January 20th, he will have on his hands the suitcase with nuclear codes and control of the most deadly armed forces on the planet.

Accompanied by his number two, Mike Pence, Donald Trump has made an appearance at the headquarters of his campaign in New York and confirmed that Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton, who has praised his "perseverance", had called him to congratulate him.

"Every single American will have the opportunity to realize his or her fullest potential. The forgotten men and women of our country will be forgotten no longer," he said and concluded, "It's an amazing evening. It's been an amazing two-year period and I love this country. Thank you".

State by state

Although it is likely that we will have to wait some time before the total count of the votes concludes, mathematically, Donald Trump has won.

His victories have been key in the states of Florida, North Carolina, Wisconsin, Ohio and Pennsylvania. The millionaire adds more than 270 delegates needed to get the keys to the White House, compared to the 218 of Hillary Clinton. In addition, Republicans maintain control of Congress and the Senate.

Several states have met the forecasts and have had an expected result. This is the case of Wyoming, Utah, Nebraska or Texas, where the Republican has razed and won as analysts had advanced. Instead, in other East Coast states, the triumph of Clinton was predictable. New York, Massachusetts or Vermont have a clear democrat color. Trump has taken away the rural vote and Hillary one of the great urban centers.
