With the final question of Sunday’s second Presidential Debate, Kenneth Bone asked if the candidates had anything they respected about each other. The internet noticed. Stealing the show from Republican Nominee Donald Trump and Democratic Nominee Hillary Clinton was a man in a red sweater. The somewhat testy debate, taking place gt Washington University in St. Louis,Missouri, was held in a town hall format, allowing audience members to question the candidates. Some questions were submitted via the internet.

Ordinary man trends as debate fizzles out in media

Immediately after appearing on camera, the average looking-man in a red sweater began trending on Twitter.

By 11:30 p.m. the name Ken Bone was the top trend nationally on the social networking site, which also live-streamed the debate. Additionally, a parody Twitter account - @TheKenBone – was created and had over 2600 followers. As of midnight Eastern time, “Ken Bone” had been mentioned over 60,000 times on Twitter. Articles in the mainstream media were already trickling out.

The self-described uncommitted voter later got into a somewhat heated argument with former President Bill Clinton, in the audience to support wife and Democratic Nominee Hillary, for an inexplicable reason. The visibly angry former President even had to be restrained by security as he spoke and pointed his finger at Bone as the debate came to a close.

Twitter users poking fun

Twitter users poked fun at his name, his general appearance and, of course, his red sweater. Slightly overweight, with thinning hair and glasses, Bone inspired jokes for his everyman appearance.

"Ken Bone is going to return his (rewound) tapes to Blockbuster tomorrow and be totally confused when everyone recognizes him,"wrote Sam Cohn.Ken Bone is the bassist for Gunshow Poophole, and he absolutely lays it down," added Grant Brisbe,." and"Wait did donald (sic) trump plant ken bone so we would forget about literally everything he said," opined Brandon Wardell.

Ken Bone of the debate is not to be confused with former Washington State University Men’s Basketball Head Coach, who was fired in 2014, after posting 10-21 record and is currently the Associate Coach at the University of Montana.
