Trump calls out Clinton on the 2nd Amendment

Donald Trump, the Republican nominee for President, has stated time and time again that his opponent Hillary Clinton will abolish the 2nd Amendment to the Constitution. Hillary Clinton’s position, according to her campaign, that if elected she will modify conditions under which a citizen may purchase a weapon but the Clinton camp denies that as President, Clinton would work to repeal gun rights to Americans.

Trump continues to hit Clinton over gun rights

July 21 in Cleveland Trump stated that, “"My opponent wants to essentially abolish the Second Amendment." The fact is that Clinton has said about the Supreme Court decision in 2008 that stated that the case of District of Columbia v.

Heller, which found the handgun ban in Washington, D.C., unconstitutional, that the “Supreme Court got it wrong on the Second Amendment, and I am going to make that case every chance I get.” According to Clinton, she meant that she would do everything she could as President to add more regulations such as background checks, registration at gun shows and the removal of what anti-gun advocates call assault weapons or military style weapons.

What Clinton is proposing

On June 5th, while being interviewed for “This Week with George Stephanopoulos” on ABC, Clinton said her position on gun control is “I’m going to continue to speak out for comprehensive background checks, closing the “gun show loophole,” closing the “online loophole,” closing the so-called “Charleston loophole,” reversing the bill that Senator Sanders voted for and I voted against, giving immunity from liability to gun makers and sellers.” One particular ally for Donald Trump has been the very vocal National Rifle Association.

They, like Trump, believe that Clinton will do everything in her power to restrict the Second Amendment.

NRA supports Trump

Executive Director Chris Cox of the NRA, stated in a press release which stated the endorsement of Trump for President by the association is due to "The stakes in this year's presidential election could not be higher for gun owners.

If Hillary Clinton gets the opportunity to replace Antonin Scalia with an anti-gun Supreme Court justice, we will lose the individual right to keep a gun in the home for self-defense. So the choice for gun owners in this election is clear. And that choice is Donald Trump.” The NRA boasts 4.5 million members which could prove problematic for the Clinton campaign in their attempt to capture the White House as the groups is known as a strong voting bloc.

What does it all mean?

It means that Donald Trump, who has a concealed-carry permit would like to see restrictions lifted for the purchase of guns, whether they are bought at a gun show or if they military style weapons. Trump believes that if more people had weapons when acts of terrorism occurred as in San Bernardino, those armed may have stopped the loss of the lives who fell victims to the terrorists. Hillary Clinton has repeated she does not want to strip Americans of their weapons but wants more regulations as to who may purchase and wants better background checks on the purchaser. If you believe the Second Amendment gives Americans unlimited rights to guns, then your pick is Donald Trump.

If you want restriction on who can buy and how to buy your choice should be Hillary Clinton.
