The National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) has a new study this week: to prevent catastrophic global warming, the world will need to stop emitting all man-made carbon dioxide (CO2) by 2085. So say goodbye to Uber, iPhones, computers, trains, planes, automobiles, air conditioners, heating, or anything that even remotely relies on fossil fueled power. It means our entire way of life would be thrown into the Stone Age to prevent an unlikely two-degree Celsius rise in temperatures from occurring by 2100.

And it would keep developing nations from being industrialized. Forget renewables. According to manufacturing analyst Steven Capozzola, you "can't build a wind farm with the electricity generated by a wind farm."

Negative emissions needed

Additionally, the federally funded NCAR study says that we will need to develop carbon scrubbing devices capable of removing CO2 from the air. It notes that even if every sector in every country – including manufacturing, power generation, farming, transportation, and the military–ceased all operations, we would still need technology to remove 15 gigatons of CO2 a year from the atmosphere.

They also write that the recently inked Paris Climate Agreement will not avert the desired two-degree temperature increase, a meaningless number that is more symbolic than scientific.

Earth is in a CO2 famine

But as history tells us, the Earth is currently in a CO2 famine.

Contrary to Al Gore’s infamous global warming graph showing CO2 levels over the last 800,000 years (and where temperatures increased before CO2 levels rose), once you reach the one million B.C. mark, CO2 levels skyrocket. But temperatures don’t. The Tertiary Period is known for some of the highest CO2 levels in Earth’s history while having below-average temperatures.

Interestingly, NCAR admits that the emission-reduction pledges given by individual countries in the Paris Climate Agreement will do little to prevent further warming, and they illustrate eight possible ways that the world can have a “two in three chance” of averting a two-degree Celsius increase by 2100.

But the only possible scenario of reaching this goal is to simply stop emitting man-made CO2. How? By pulling the plug on anything that emits CO2 and creating technology to remove excess CO2 from the atmosphere.

AC without the DC

That may explain Secretary of State John Kerry’s comments last Friday when he said air conditioners are as big a threat as ISIS, prompting environmentalists everywhere to create a petition to get rid of all air conditioning from the State Department.

AC with DC saves lives

Statistically, there has been an 80 percent reduction in heat-related deaths since the advent of modern air conditioning in homes and businesses over the last 50 years. And the last time the Democrats held a convention in Philadelphia was July 12 to July 14, 1948.

The temperatures that week were in the mid-90s and humidity pushed the heat index into the 100s. In fact, CO2 levels during that time period were below 350 parts per million. As the convention pushed on, hundreds of people were treated for heat strokes, dehydration, and exhaustion. Today, the DNC stadium is air conditioned, though due to the stadium’s size, has not been up to the task, and creating a firestorm on twitter:

The current temperature in Philadelphia, which has also been in the mid-90s, hasn’t changed that much either.

But that was then and this is now, and summer is no longer three or four months of hot weather but rather a global warming ‘signal.’ It doesn’t matter that the changes in temperatures are in tenths of degrees, what matters is pushing forward a false narrative at all costs. Or in this case, a federally funded study.

This latest study was published in the journal Geophysical Research Letters, and funded in large part by the U.S. Department of Energy.
