Former half-term Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin was back in the headlines after an controversial appearance at a Donald Trump rally in Wisconsin last Friday. Critics questioned Palin's behavior, which included her claiming illegal immigrants from Mexico came to the United States to receive "gift baskets with soccer balls." Following her appearance, African-American female rapper Azealia Banks took to Twitter with some harsh words for the failed 2008 GOP vice presidential candidate.

Palin vs Banks

In what Banks now says she was "completely kidding," the rapper called for the gang rape of Palin at the hands of a group of black men. Palin quickly responded to Banks' comments, labelingit a "bizarre" and "violent rant," while calling for unity on her official Facebook page. Despite this, Palin has decided to take legal action against Banks, explaining that if Banks was white and made those remarks, the reaction from the public would be much different, in a statement made to PEOPLE magazine.

"Let’s be honest here: if a white girl were to say what this black girl is saying, the screams for the entire white population’s head would be louder than the nonsensical rap that Azealia spews all the way to the bank," Palin said, claiming that the "white girl" would have been arrested and put in jail for the comments made by Banks.

Donald Trump

Palin stated that she will get "retribution" against Banks and share what she wins in court with those who have been "defenseless against lies and dangerous attacks far too long."

Banks has continued to push back, apologizing to Palin and attempting to explain that she was just making light out a of a uncomfortable situation. The rapper blamed her reaction on her"New-York-City sense of humor."

Palin's latest troubles

Palin shocked many when she decided to endorse Donald Trump for president over the person she was more closely aligned with, Tea Party favorite and conservative Christian Texas Sen.

Ted Cruz. Since announcing her support in January, Palin has been often criticized for her odd approach to campaign speeches, but has also been forced to deal with personal issues at home.

So far in 2016, Palin's son, Track, has been arrested and charged with domestic violence against a woman, while also seeing the custody of his child decreased.

Palin's daughter, Bristol, has also had to face custody issues, being forced into two separate joint custody agreements with her ex-fiances that fathered different children. Palin's husband, Todd, was also in a snow mobile accident last month that resulted in serious injuries, as he continues to recover in Alaska.
