When you see the Macy’s Holiday Parade at Universal Studios Florida, running nightly from December 3 through January 1, 2017, you’re in for an authentic experience. It may be in Orlando rather than New York, but you’ll see balloons that come directly from the Big Apple to Universal Orlando Resort for the Christmas season. The parade, which has enjoyed a long run at the theme park that started in 2001, continues to draw crowds every year during the resort’s special holiday festivities.

New Christmas balloon coming to Orlando

The Macy’s Holiday Parade at Universal Studios Florida gets something new every year.

This year, it’s the “Virginia” balloon, which depicts the skeptical 8-year old girl who inspired the famous “Yes, Virginia there is a Santa Claus” newspaper editorial. “Mother Ginger” from the Christmas classic “The Nutcracker” will also be in Orlando, along with a full complement of balloons from past years.

Universal Studios Florida takes the parade’s integrity very seriously. Every year, representatives travel to Orlando along with the balloons to work with the theme park on making sure that everything is perfect. Last year, John Piper, Vice-President of the Macy’s Parade Studio, and Amy Kule, Executive Direction of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade, talked about what was new in 2015. You can see their interview in the video below.

Parade is back for Christmas season

This year marks the parade’s 15th anniversary at Universal Studios Florida, where it arrives just in time for the busy Christmas season. Piper and Kule were very excited last year, when it took to the theme park’s streets for the 14th time, as you can see in the video interview.

Fun in the sky and on the ground at Universal

While balloons up in the sky are a hallmark of the Macy’s Holiday Parade, they’re just one small part of an lively overall spectacle that includes street performers, marching bands, motorcycles and more. You’ll even see balloonicles taking to the streets of Universal Studios Florida in celebration of Christmas.

If you’re not sure what a balloonicle is, find out in the video, where you’ll meet Chloe the Clown, who debuted in Orlando last year.

The parade is included with your park admission to Universal Studios Florida, where you’ll also enjoy live Mannheim Steamroller concerts on select weekends. Get a two park ticket so you can go next door to Islands of Adventure, where the Grinch takes to the stage every day to act out his classic Christmas tale.
