You’ve probably heard of Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, a special event that runs during the holiday season every year at the Magic Kingdom. It’s a special ticketed event that runs after the park’s normal hours, with exclusive activities for party guests. This year, it takes place on selected dates through December 22. What, exactly, are the special activities? If you’ve never attended this event, here’s are five of the top things you’re missing:

The Once Upon a Christmastime Parade

Who doesn’t love a parade? The Once Upon a Christmastime Parade runs twice a night during the party, filled with Disney characters and capped with an appearance by Santa Claus himself.

See old friends like Mickey and Minnie, a full contingent of the Disney Princesses, the Frozen gang, and even Wreck-It Ralph and Vanellope. The parade wends its way through Frontierland and down Main Street USA, so you’ll have your choice of plenty of good viewing spots.

Holiday Wishes Fireworks

The Magic Kingdom is well known for having nightly fireworks. Things get kicked up a notch for Christmas with Holiday Wishes, a spectacular show that lights up the sky in tandem with a seasonal narrative. You’ll see Tinker Bell do her famous flight if you stake out a good viewing spot in front of Cinderella Castle.

Special Christmas shows

‘A Totally Tomorrowland Christmas’ with Stitch is back for another year, but the Magic Kingdom also has some new entertainment for the party.

‘Mickey’s Most Merriest Celebration’ brings Mickey and Minnie together with a huge contingent of their friends. In addition to the Fab Five, you’ll see Disney characters who don’t show up on stage as often, like the Three Caballeros and Clarabelle Cow. Meanwhile, VoicePlay performs a capella Christmas carols over in Tomorrowland, while Club Tinsel takes over Cosmic Ray’s for Dancing with a variety of characters.

That’s just a small sampling of the special holiday entertainment at the party.

Free goodies at several Magic Kingdom locations

You’ll need a sugar buzz to help you keep going all the way until the fun ends at midnight, and it’s easy enough to get because of one of the party perks. You can get free snacks like hot cocoa, cider, cookies, and slush at select spots around the Magic Kingdom.

Be sure to check your map and visit as many of the Christmas treat spots as possible, since they all serve up something different.

Cute Christmas merchandise

You can pick up a Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party t-shirt or sweatshirt during the event, and you’ll find other holiday merchandise if you want to do a little gift shopping. If you don’t get enough of the free treats, you’ll also find snacks with a seasonal flair to purchase.
