The Gaylord Palms Resort debuted its annual Ice! display, depicting a beloved holiday classic that appeals to all ages: A Charlie Brown Christmas. The event, which runs through January 1, 2017, is just one small part of the festivities, that also include Santa, Mrs. Claus, indoor snow tubing, snowball tossing, and more.

Annual Christmas event

Ice! is a Christmas tradition in Orlando, where locals join tourists to admire detailed sculptures created each year by Chinese artisans who travel to the Gaylord Palms Resort to craft each year’s themed display.

Floridians in particular enjoy the novelty of “winter” inside the exhibit, which stays at a frosty nine degrees. You don’t have to worry about getting too cold, as use of a nice, toasty parka is part of the admission cost.

Each room of Ice! depicts a different scene from A Charlie Brown Christmas, including such iconic moments as Charlie Brown choosing his sad little tree, Snoopy’s garishly decorated dog house, Linus sharing the true meaning of the holiday, and of course the grand finale with the tree’s triumphant transformation.

Adult fun at the Gaylord Palms Resort

The Gaylord Palms Resort also offers adult guests a chance to warm up with an alcoholic beverage in the On the Blocks ice bar. Kids of all ages can go for a slippery trip down one of the four slides in the auditorium scene. As always, the exhibit ends with a clear ice depiction of the nativity.

You can purchase admission to Ice! on its own or opt for a package that includes the other Christmas activities in the Alpine Village at the Gaylord Palms Resort, like snow tubing and gingerbread decorating.

The event is open to day guests as well as those staying on-site, and special overnight packages are available.

A new way to see the Christmas show

The Cirque Dreams UnWrapped show, which takes place in the atrium, is free, but you can purchase special VIP seating if you want to guarantee a great view of the troupe of talented performers. There are three full casts, meaning you'll see different acts if you catch this Christmas show multiple times.
