In what appears to be an attempt to corner all areas of the fast #food market, Chipotle announced that it will be opening a chain of burger restaurants. The first TastyMade store is set to open in the fall of 2016 in Lancaster, Ohio.

The company first opened Chipotle Mexican Grill in 1993 with the mission to provide customers with good quality food made from fresh ingredients that was served fast but without the traditional fast food atmosphere. With the rapid success of the burrito market, Chipotle later opened ShopHouse Southeast Asian Kitchen, which mixes up Thai and Vietnamese culinary delights, and Pizzeria Locale that boasts of fresh pizza made to order from the menu or that you build yourself to be made from a choice of dozens of toppings.

Do you want fries with that?

With the Asian, Naples-inspired pizza and Mexican almost-fast food markets already covered, it seemed the only thing left was for Chipotle to try its spatula at flipping the all-American hamburger. TastyMade’s menu will focus on hamburgers, fries and milkshakes, but if the parent company’s track record is any indication, even those limited menu items will undoubtedly offer enough choices to accommodate a number of different palates, from those wanting a plain cheeseburger to the one willing to take a chance on more sophisticated or unusual burger toppings.

While not New York or Los Angeles, Ohio has a lot to offer with a wide demographic while staying true to beef-loving midwestern America.  It probably doesn’t hurt that Chef Nate Appleman and Chipotle’s national training director David Chrisman, the two who developed the idea of a hamburger #restaurant, are both native Buckeyes, so no doubt know the Ohio market well and what to give to and expect from its customers.

Find the restaurant on Memorial Drive
