World AIDS Day 2015 will be unlike any in the past, at least that's the goal of U2 frontman, Bono. Representing his charitable organization RED, Bono will be in New York City with Miley Cyrus, Trevor Noah, Vice President Joe Biden, the Edge and others celebrating the 10-year anniversary of RED, and more importantly, spreading awareness of HIV/AIDS and encouraging donations to the AIDS charity, RED.

It may seem like a lot of fun – and Bono's Carnegie Hall appearance on December 1, 2015 with other celebrity guests is intended to be entertaining – but the subjects of HIV/AIDS and extreme poverty are topics close to Bono's heart and apparently to the hearts of minds of many other Celebrities, too.

In support of RED and Bono's other charitable organization, The One Campaign, that seeks to end extreme poverty, many A-list celebrities are going out in a big way. Meryl Streep, George Clooney, Kim Kardashian and Matthew McConaughey are just a few of those joining Bono in offering once-in-a-lifetime experiences to anyone who donates at least $10. Selected lucky donors will win opportunities to spend one-on-one time with the celebrities.

Jimmy Kimmel is dedicating his Tuesday, December 1 Jimmy Kimmel Live show to the cause, where he will be joined by co-host Olivia Wilde, doing a comedic spoof of the home shopping networks, kicking off the month-long Red Shopathon. Those purchasing Red products can win an opportunity to learn how to throw a football from Tom Brady or get next year's holiday photos snapped with Shaquille O'Neal.

The point of all this is to increase HIV/AIDS awareness and to raise private sector money to be used in the fight against the immuno-deficiency illness. Donations and purchases through January 21, 2016 will qualify for this unique contest.

Thus far, RED has collected $324 million dollars and positively impacted the lives of 60 million people.

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has pledged to match dollar for dollar donated to RED, up to $20 million.

Other celebrities participating in one form or another Snoop Dogg, Ryan Seacrest, The Weeknd, Scarlett Johansson, Barry Manilow and JessieJ.
