Bandai Namco stated that “Dragon Ball FighterZ’s” open beta is going to begin January 14, 2018, but if you pre-order you can access the beta one day earlier.

Open beta exact times

If you are pre-ordering the game you will have access starting January 13 at 3 AM ET. Everyone else will have access on January 14 at 3 AM ET. The beta ends on January 16 at 2:59 AM ET. The beta is only for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One only. “Dragon Ball FighterZ” launches January 26, 2018, on PS4, PC, and Xbox One.

The plot involves Goku and his friends going against an army of super androids designed to fight just like them. The story is split into chapters; the Super Warriors Arc, the Super Villain Arc, and the Android Arc. Each chapter follows the story from the perspectives of Goku, Frieza, and Android 18.

Pre-order details

Players who pre-order the game will get a FighterZ Pass which adds eight characters to the roster and unlocks Super Saiyan Blue Goku and Super Saiyan Blue Vegeta to start the game. It will also include two lobby avatars and a girls stamp pack.

Announced characters

The following characters have been confirmed:

  • Goku
  • Cell
  • Vegeta
  • Frieza
  • Gohan
  • Majin Buu
  • Trunks
  • Krillin
  • Piccolo

In the latest issue of Japanese magazine V-Jump, Beerus, Hit, and Goku Black were slated as playable characters in "Dragon Ball FighterZ." They also stated that Beerus will be able to create Spheres of Destruction, which will explode when in contact. His ultimate move, God of Destruction's Judgement and his signature Time Skip skill is going to give him the ability to stop time while attacking his opponent.

Goku Black will be able to summon Zamasu and create weapons with energy, his ultimate move is Work of the Gods.

3vs3 Tag/Support

Players will be able to train and master more than one fighting style in 3vs3 mode. The game will also have a story mode featuring a brand new character created in collaboration with Akira Toriyama. Online features include ranked matches and an interactive lobby.

The game features aerial combos, destructible stages, and memorable scenes from the Dragon Ball anime reproduced in 60FPS and 1080p resolution. If you have the PS4 Pro, higher resolution will be supported.

Recreate iconic anime moments

As seen in the latest trailer during Jump Festa 2018, if certain characters go against each other they’ll act out the anime’s corresponding scene. For example, if you choose Goku to fight Freeza, and if Freeza defeats Krillin beforehand, you will see Goku’s first transformation to Super Saiyan, like in the series.

Arc System Works has tried their best to recreate the series for fans.
