Bandai Namco Entertainment officially announced that "Dragon Ball" villains Nappa and Captain Ginyu will be added to the growing roster of "Dragon Ball FighterZ" after anime fans spotted the two characters in the latest issue of Japanese game and manga magazine, V-Jump.

The Japanese magazine also revealed new details about the game's story mode and its original character, Android 21. The plot of "FighterZ" will feature an alternate version of the famed "Android Saga" wherein in robot versions of Son Goku, Vegeta, Krillin, and Piccolo destroyed the world instead of Android 17 and Android 18.


Who are Nappa and Ginyu?

In the "Dragon Ball" lore, Nappa is the Saiyan partner of Vegeta during their invasion of Earth in the "Saiyan Saga" storyline. The villainous warrior was responsible for the deaths of Tien Shinhan, Chiaotzu, and Piccolo before Goku easily defeated him.

Nappa in the game can dish out powerful ki blast that can create serious damage to his opponent, and he can summon Saibamen to assist him during battles just like Chiaotzu and Android 17. His finishing move, "Kappa," is fired in his mouth that can devastate his opponents and turned them into ash.

Captain Ginyu is the leader of Frieza's special forces team, The Ginyu Force. His team has fought Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, and Krillin during their stay on planet Namek. Ginyu's special attack, "Body Change" will switch his body to his opponent and gain their HP.

Nappa and Ginyu will join the likes of Frieza, Cell, Majin Buu, Android 16, Future Trunks, and more as players can use their skills to initiate unique strategies to take down opponents rather than rushing head-on into the fight.

"Dragon Ball FighterZ" producer Tomoko Hiroki revealed new details about Android 21 in the game's story mode as she told Game Informer (via that she is "heavy" into research, and her position as head scientist of the Red Ribbon Army will reveal hints on the origins of the Android characters.


"And because she herself is a scientist of the Red Ribbon Army, you can guess that she also has a connection with the Androids, "Tomoko said.

Android 21 was first seen helping Krillin and Son Goku revive Android 18, and she is often seen with Android 16 on the game's promotional materials, hinting a special connection between the two.

The game's story mode will allow players to hold conversations and bonds with other characters, and do side-missions on the map.

"Dragon Bal FighterZ" will launch first in Japan on Feb.

1, 2018, for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
