James Comey, in his testimony to Congress under oath, said that he believed that he had been fired to influence the investigation into the Trump campaign.

Former FBI Director, James Comey had been leading multiple investigations into Russian interference in the 2016 US Presidential Election and Donald Trump didn’t seem to be too happy about that. Ever since the matter came to the attention of the American public, he has been explosive with his tweets, calling the investigation fake on multiple occasions.

Trump’s tweet left everybody clueless

On Friday, June 9th, he tweeted, “Despite so many false statements and lies, total and complete vindication...and WOW, Comey is a leaker!”

So far, nobody has any clue regarding the falsehoods Donald Trump is referring to in this tweet, but his lawyer has rejected many claims made by the former FBI director.

Comey also said that the president pressured him into dropping the investigation regarding the former National Security Adviser, Michael Flynn, before the Senate Intelligence Committee.

Michael Flynn was fired after it became known that he had misled the vice-president about conversations with the Russian ambassador before President Trump took office.

Comey said that President Trump accused the FBI of being “poorly led,” which were lies according to him. He also said that he began writing memos after his meetings with the President because he was honestly worried that Trump might lie about it.

James Comey, the ‘leaker’?

In his tweet, President Trump called James Comey a “leaker” which might be because Comey himself told Congress that he had leaked one of his memos after the information was already printed in the press to one of his close friends in the media.

It was because of that leaked memo that a special counsel was assigned to lead an independent investigation to Trump campaign’s ties with Russia. It has been concluded that there is no evidence of collusion between US and Russia so far and President Trump has dismissed the story as “fake news”.

Marc Kasowitz said on Thursday that the President never tried to stop or interfere with any investigation with regards to a collision between US and Russia and that Comey’s leaks should be investigated.

He added that the testimony confirmed that Donald Trump was not under any investigation which had to do with Russian political meddling.

Donald Trump ignored the reporters who asked whether Comey was telling the truth just hours later.
