Soon-to-be former White House press secretary Sean Spicer is reportedly looking for someone who will handle his former position as he will be filling another role for the administration of President Donald Trump.

Reports claimed Trump will give him a more senior communications role although details about this post remain scarce. Spicer has not yet formally commented on the reports that he will be transferred to another post. The sudden move by the White House came after communications director Michael Dubke resigned from his post last month.

Laura Ingraham, David Martosko tapped to take over press secretary job

Trump, together with Spicer and chief of staff Reince Priebus, have already interviewed possible candidates for the press secretary job. Reports noted that conservative media personality Laura Ingraham and Daily Mail US political editor David Martosko were considered and interviewed for the position.

White House deputy press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said of the search for a new press secretary, “We have sought input from many people as we look to expand our communications operation.” She did not confirm, however, if the reports are true about Martosko and Ingraham getting an interview with Trump, Spicer, and Priebus.

Sanders' name also came up as to who will take over Spicer's position but she is reportedly not interested.

Another name being thrown around is Fox News host Kimberly Guilfoyle. Other sources claimed she does not want to be the press secretary and she has not been interviewed yet.

Sean Spicer’s way of responding to media might have contributed to role change

Aside from the fact that there is a staff shake-up in the communications department of the White House, Spicer’s way of responding to the media during briefs is said to be one of the main reasons that he will be moved to another position.

Spicer’s controversial comments and other responses such as the firing of former FBI director James Comey led to criticism and doubt that the Trump administration is credible due to the fluctuating statements the Trump officials have been giving.

He also became a staple character parroted by Melissa McCarthy at the “Saturday Night Live” show just like the president is imitated by actor Alec Baldwin.

It remains unknown what exactly is the new role of Spicer but it will definitely decrease the buzz around him for a while. He has only been behind the podium for six months.
