Edinburgh and Berlin are awesome, but Vienna is the Queen of Europe

One of the most ambitious cities is certainly Edinburgh, with the Hoganay celebration, that is considered one of the best celebrations of the last day of the year in the world.

The main point of the event is Princes Street, in the center of the city: the performance starts 30th December with the Torchlight Procession and it ends with the traditional ceilidh dances and live music throughout the streets. At midnight a spectacular fireworks show starts, seen by more than 150.000 people.

Another amazing event is in Berlin, with the "Party Mile" - a 2-km stretch between Brandenburg Gate (the heart of the event) and the Victory Column, where you can stop between bars, stages, shows, and music. At midnight the fireworks show begins and after that, one million people have fun in night clubs and partying along the street, or they can participate in the "Pancake Run" in which many runners follow various routes from the arty Grunewald neighborhood, flipping pancakes along the roads.

In London more than 250.000 people gather along the Thames River, watching the Big Ben countdown and waiting for the fireworks show, that consists of 10 minutes of pyrotechnics. The party goes on all night long with DJ performances in bars and parks. Along the street, you can watch the annual parade with marching bands, acrobats and much more. There's just a complication: because of too much overcrowding, the event is limited and you have to pay £10 to attend.

Vienna remains the Queen of Europe for people wanting to experience a cultured celebration and the Austrian capital holds many classical music concerts and with many famous symphonies. The heart of these concerts is at the Hofburg Palace, where the celebration begins at 14:00 and carries on after midnight. At the end of the countdown for New Year's Day, the fireworks show highlights the Wiener Prater and people dance all night long on the streets drinking Mulled wine. On New Year's Day, all attention is focused on Wiener Musikverein where the Philharmonic’s New Year’s concert takes place.

For people that cannot attend in person, there is a big screen outside of the City Hall. This concert is one of the most famous in the world, with a broadcast to more than 50 million viewers.

Other suggestions: from Paris to Amsterdam, through Dubrovnik

There are not only these destinations to live for New Year's Eve: out of the ranking, we have Paris, where people can participate to a spectacular fireworks show at the feet of the Eiffel Tower or a fantastic view of it from Montmatre, making rounds along streets, bars and clubs drinking champagne, joininh the live orchestra or reserving a boat cruise along the Seine to spend one of the most romantic night in the life; in the cold Reykjavik, you can attend to a festival of lights, with the community bonfires, the fireworks starting half-an-hour before midnight and dancing the night away at private parties in clubs and bars with other 200.000 people; an unusual destination is Dubrovnik (Croatia), where you can feel the emotions of the rich music program in Stradun, the main street of the city; in the end we cannot forget Amsterdam, with the street parties in the squares Rembrandtplein, Nieuwmarkt, Museumplein and Dam Square and the views of fireworks from the bridges drinking champagne and some treats from the street vendors.
