Russian aviation has a long history from the days of the Soviet state when Stalin ruled. He laid the foundation of an advanced aircraft manufacturing infrastructure with names like Mikoyan-Gurevich ( MIG) and #Sukhoi respected all over the world. The collapse of the Soviet Union put the brakes on aircraft development and it was only the arrival of Vladimir Putin that the Russian aircraft industry again got into stride and produced a string of world-class fighters. The latest #military aviation plane that has been showcased is the Sukhoi T-50, a 5th generation fighter interceptor.

The Sukhoi T-50

The T-50 is a product of the Sukhoi design bureau.

It is the most advanced Russian fighter plane. Photos of the plane have been released showing it taking off from an unknown snow covered airfield. The airbase is not identified but one can make out that it must be located in the northern regions or Siberia. The plane shown in the photographs is a prototype and is still in the testing stage. The plane incorporates the latest stealth technology and will be able to fly at Mach 2.5 +.

The plane has been manufactured at the Komsomolsk-on- Amur aircraft plant. It is understood that 9 machines have been got ready and all are being tested at different airfields of Russia. The plane is a real threat to the west as along with stealth technology the plane is an air superiority machine. It is the rival of the F-22 and the coming F-35, which unfortunately is dogged by heavy costs.

This has been adversely commented upon by Donald Trump as well. The plane costs $ 50 million and is thus in the affordable range, compared to the escalating cost of the F-35.

Favorable air situation

The plane is a single seat fighter with a dual engine and the west and the USA will like to know more about this plane. The Chinese have a stealth fighter the J-20 but it may not match the capability of the T-50. Military aviation is extremely important as brought out by General Guilio Douhet who had said that a favorable air situation is the first step of domination in a war. The T-50 will help fill this role.
