It seems that #dubai is unstoppable on a vision of becoming the world's best city. Another ambitious project called The Tower is being built at Dubai Creek Harbour which will be a notch higher than Burj Khalifa, according to Mohamed Alabbar, the Emaar Properties chairman.

The Tower is due to be delivered in 2019, just in time for the  Dubai’s Expo 2020. The cable-tied tower will be designed by the Spanish-Swiss architect Santiago Calatrava. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, had approved the selection of the design last February 2016.

The total cost will be around $1 billion. Aside from the tower, the whole development will have several residential, commercial, and retails spaces. If completed as planned, this will be twice as big as Downtown Dubai, the home of the Dubai Mall, Burj Khalifa, The Address, among others. The tower will mainly serve as an architectural tower than a working building, but to maximize the budget and full potential of  the tower other than just being an ostentatious display of Dubai's greatness, there will be hotel rooms, restaurants, and observation deck on some of its floors.

City of Dreams

Since  Dubai won the bid to host the Expo 2020 in 2013, beating competition from Ekaterinburg (Russia), Izmir (Turkey) and Sao Paulo (Brazil) with 116 of the 168 votes, massive transformations were done since then. Cranes are almost everywhere moving round the clock like they are meeting a  deadline. Dubai holds so many records from the tallest, largest, most expensive and so much more. Dubai had produced thousands of jobs both for the locals and migrant workers alike. Thus, the name City of Dreams.

Expo 2020

Just like Eiffel Tower in Paris, France built for the 1889 World’s Fair and Atomium in Brussels; Belgium built for the Expo 58, The Tower will be Expo 2020’s centerpiece. It will commence on October 20, 2020, to April 10, 2021, is expected to receive over 20 million tourists during the period and will produce thousands of jobs. #expo2020 #thetower
