Star Wars” fans are presumably excited as the second installment of the new saga is set to release this month. As expected with big releases like this, several tie-in promotions are usually advertised by different companies. Last year, Softbank offered their Sharp smartphone with two special designs that depicted the dark side and light side of the Force. This year, another smartphone maker collaborates with the sci-fi franchise as the Oneplus 5T gets a “Star Wars” Limited Edition version to commemorate the release of “The Last Jedi,” on December 15, 2017.

Availability of the smartphone

According to Gadgets360, there is currently no word if the special version of the smartphone will become available worldwide. The official announcement points out that it will be available in certain territories in India only, Amazon India, and the handset’s official online store in the region.

Special design

Promotional pictures of the OnePlus 5T “Stars Wars” Limited edition showcase its unique color and design. Unlike the regular version which is available in Midnight Black color only, the movie tie-in sports a white housing along with the same black front bezels as the original.

A red-outline logo of the movie franchise sits on the bottom part of the back panel together with a red-colored alert slider. Last week, China also received a special Lava Red color version of the same model.

Hardware and imaging

It should come as no surprise that its specifications are exactly like the original. The handset is powered by an Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset rated at 2.5GHz coupled with an 8GB RAM.

Just like its predecessors, storage is non-expandable, but the 128GB onboard memory should be enough for most apps and media. The display is a 6.01-inch AMOLED display with a 1080 x 2160 resolution and an aspect ratio of 18:9. It carries a rechargeable 3,300mAh lithium battery along with Dash Charge technology. Security options include a fingerprint sensor located on its back and Face Unlock.

Just like most flagship smartphone models, the OnePlus 5T “Star Wars” Limited Edition is also equipped with a twin-camera setup. The main shooter is a 20-megapixel Sony IMX350 sensor paired with a 16-megapixel Sony IMX398 sensor along with a dual-LED flash. Selfies are handled by its 16-megapixel Sony IMX 371 sensor up front. Everything runs on a customized Android operating system named Oxygen OS with version 4.7.2 expected to pre-installed when it becomes available.
