One of the most dreadful moments for any smartphone manufacturer is when their device experiences a technical difficulty, not only causing inconvenience to the users but potentially threatening their lives as well. Samsung already has a taste of that medicine, thanks to its Galaxy Note 7 fiasco. There were several incidents wherein even several of Apple’s products caught fire, however; they gradually subsided. More recently, however, a Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 exploded in a user’s pocket in Andhra Pradesh, India. The reports regarding the explosion quickly went viral, thereby putting Xiaomi in a position of vulnerability.

Redmi Note 4

Xiaomi was quick to launch an investigation into this matter. The firm released its preliminary findings last week, and they blamed extreme external force as the reason for the smartphone explosion. The company made an official post, stating that the recent incident of the damaged Redmi Note 4 that took place in East Godavari region of Andhra Pradesh was the cause of extreme external force. The company stated that they were able to procure the device from the user soon after the incident took place.

Xiaomi has been in constant touch with the user ever since, the blog post suggested. The Chinese tech-giant further went on to state that following first impressions of the exploded smartphone, they have arrived at the conclusion that external force was applied to it.

The device could not withstand the extreme pressure and thus, the back cover bent, leading to stress on the battery. The screen of the smartphone also faced bad consequences. The owner of Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 4, Mr. Suryakiran was riding his motorbike when the device exploded and caught fire. He stopped his bike and yanked the device away from himself as soon as possible.

However, he was too late to do so, and also sustained burns on his thigh.
