Just recently, Razer posted a tweet that further hinted their venture into the mobile phone market. Fans can expect a big announcement from the gaming-centric firm on November 1, 2017. The company is known for their high-end gaming PCs and accessories, which most likely means that their first smartphone will be capable of top-tier mobile gaming. Earlier this year, the company acquired former app maker Nextbit, which also manufactured the Robin smartphone. With the latter’s experience with mobile phone development, consumers can expect the RAZER Phone flaunt excellent hardware, great industrial design, and build-quality associated with the brand.

GFXbench reveals RAZER Phone details

Little is known about the upcoming smartphone except for its pending reveal date. Nevertheless, fans are confident that it will be marketed to appeal to the gaming community. The rumor that a mobile phone was in the works was apparently hinted by Nextbit’s announcement that said, “Great things are coming as we join the RAZER family.” Smartphone market experts even listed some of the features speculated to come with the device. However, a surprise GFXBench listing has supposedly shared more information about the reportedly called RAZER Phone.

CPU and GPU

The listing reveals some of the smartphone’s core hardware components.

Its processor is confirmed to be an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 clocked at 2.4GHz and accompanied by an 8GB RAM, which is quite sizeable given that most other flagship Android smartphones from other brands only come with 4GB RAM. Likewise, its GPU is revealed to be an Adreno 540 model, which now supports Vulkan APIs and DirectX 12.

The details appear to support the idea that the mobile phone is intended to please gamers.

Display and storage

The model listed is most likely the entry-level variant with a 64GB internal storage. RAZER offers several options for its gaming laptops so consumers can most likely expect higher storage capacity models to be also offered.

Unfortunately, the available information did not confirm if the smartphone will have a microSD card slot for memory expansion. Meanwhile, the phone’s display will be a 5.7-inch touchscreen with a 2560 x 1440 Quad HD resolution and maintain a 16:9 aspect ratio. The types of display technology and screen design were not included in the spec sheet.

Imaging and other details

The RAZER Phone will come equipped with a 12-megapixel main camera sensor, while an 8-megapixel unit handles selfies. Its operating system is confirmed to be Android 7.1.1 with a customized UI. Obviously, the Price and availability were not listed on GFXbench but will be revealed along with its design and more in the next few weeks.
