Earlier this year, nokia has last launched its high-end 8 smartphones. As noted by Tech Radar, the company is expected to unleash another premium-segment handset. Nokia 9 is expected to be even Bigger than Nokia 8. The report states that Nokia is planning on introducing the handset towards the end of this year. It will probably carry a hefty price-tag.

Specifications and features

According to Tech Radar, Nokia 9 is speculated to feature a 5.5-inch QHD display with 1,440 x 2,560 pixels resolution. This has already appeared on Sony’s latest Xperia XZ Premium.

The report further states that the handset will deliver a vibrant video-viewing experience. The upcoming smartphone was leaked in the form of renders. The device in the pictures appears to be carrying an all-metallic body. One source quoted by Tech Radar claims that Nokia 9 will include IP68 certification – which makes it both, dust and water resistant. The fingerprint scanning feature is placed on the rear panel – right next to the camera module. In terms of dimensions, the handset appears to measure 140.9 x 72.9 x 7.5mm. The latest leak claims that the company might not include a 3.5mm headphone jack with the device. The device’s camera will be its primary selling point.

Nokia is apparently planning on adopting dual lens with 9.

Several rumors claim that the handset will feature a 22-megapixel rear camera sensor with dual-lens along with a 12-megapixel front shooter. The camera technology will be powered by Carl Zeiss. Nokia plans on packing the handset with a 3,800mAh battery with Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 4 support. The report by Tech Radar claims that the handset (like Nokia 8) will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 system-on-chip.

On the storage front, the device will probably offer either 4GB or 6GB of RAM. There are also chances that Nokia might launch a special 8GB RAM variant. The smartphone is reported by Tech Radar to include 3D audio recording and an iris scanner too. If this turns out to be true, then Nokia 9 will carry both – fingerprint and iris scanning abilities.

The handset is expected to carry the latest Android Oreo right out of the box.

Pricing

Leaks claim that Nokia 9 might come for a starting price of $699 in the US. Different storage models will be available for different prices. The 128GB model will probably end up being more expensive. A specific date for launch also hasn’t been decided by Nokia.
