HMD Global is expected to unveil the highly anticipated smartphone, dubbed Nokia 9, before the end of 2017 or in early 2018. The upcoming smartphone will reportedly come with better specs and features as compared to Nokia 8. Interestingly, several details about Nokia 9’s design and key specifications have been leaked over the last few months. A couple of alleged pictures of the device have also been spotted online (obtained by Nokia Power User).

Possible design and specs

The latest image leaked by a Chinese micro-blogging site, Baidu, shows the handset in stunning blue color.

The device in the picture looks quite promising with a virtually bezel-less design and an edge to edge 3D glass display. It is suspected that Nokia 9 will get the OLED display technology. The picture shows a 3D glass back design for the upcoming handset which suggests that the device might feature wireless charging technology.

Handset features as listed on GFXBench

Notably, Nokia 9 was also spotted on benchmarking website, GFXBench, with all possible specs listed. According to the listing, the smartphone will feature a 5.5-inch display, the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage, IP68 water and dust protection, a 3,800mAh battery, an iris scanner, a fingerprint scanner, and Quick Charge 4.0 support.

The handset is likely to run Google's latest operating system, Android 8 Oreo.

The upcoming Nokia 9 is rumored to come with the Dual-Lens Zeiss camera, the same as Nokia 8 which features a 13-megapixel dual rear camera setup with RGB and monochrome sensor and a 12-megapixel front camera.

As far as pricing is concerned, rumors are that the handset will be priced at around EUR 749 in European markets.

Other than Nokia 9, the Finnish smartphone manufacturer is also expected to unveil a new budget smartphone this year. Nokia 2 is rumored to boast a 5-inch HD display with 720x1280 pixel resolution, Snapdragon 212 processor paired with either 1GB or 2GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage.

In terms of camera, the budget Android phone is rumored to get an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel camera front camera.

On the software front, the smartphone will either run Android 7.1 Nougat out-of-the-box or the latest Android Oreo depending on the launch timeframe. Nokia has not yet officially announced the release dates for the upcoming smartphones. However, according to BGR, the Nokia 2 will launch sometime in November.
