Xiaomi has already announced the official release date for the upcoming Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 smartphone. The Chinese smartphone maker revealed in a teaser image on Chinese social networking website, Weibo, that it will be unveiling the Mi Mix successor on September 11. While nothing about the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 specs and features were mentioned in the teaser, multiple rumors and leaks in the past few days have detailed what the highly anticipated smartphone will offer.

Leak reveals possible specs and features

According to GSMArena, a couple of leaked screenshots that recently appeared on Weibo show the impressive list of Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 specs.

The screenshots display the about phone section of the forthcoming smartphone. The handset is listed with a 6.2-inch bezel less display with 2960 x 1440 pixels resolution, which is the same for Samsung’s latest Galaxy S8 range of smartphones and the Galaxy Note 8 phablet, a whopping 4,400 mAh battery and 256 GB of internal storage.

As per the screenshot, the upcoming Xiaomi smartphone will run on Android’s latest operating software- Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box with a touch of MIUI 9. The smartphone is likely to get a dual rear camera setup with a 20-megapixel rear shooter and feature a 3D sensing camera for facial recognition.

The handset is listed with the alleged Qualcomm Snapdragon 836 chipset. The Snapdragon 836 is expected to be an enhanced version of the current Snapdragon 835 SoC. But with just seven days remaining for the handset’s official launch, the possibility of the inclusion of Snapdragon 836 processor in the handset is very low. The fact that Qualcomm has also not yet officially announced the Snapdragon 836 chipset questions the credibility of the screenshots.

CEO Lei Jun shares a picture of package box

According to GizmoChina, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun has reportedly shared a picture of the Mi Mix 2 box package. The picture shows both the front as well as the back of the package box. The front side carries the MIX branding, while the back side of the box has some Chinese text written along with Lei Jun’s signature.

As far as the price is concerned, the base model of the handset offering 6GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage is expected to be priced at $610 (~3,999 Yuan). The high-end model with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage is likely to cost around $763 (~4,999 Yuan).
