Google’s Android One system is targeted towards lower-category smartphones. It is their way of ensuring that all consumers get a top-quality mobile experience.

The latest handset supporting Android One was Xiaomi’s A1. The prolific leaker, Evan Blass now suggests that Motorola’s Moto X4 smartphone will join the list of devices supporting Android One.

Moto X4 with Android One

Blass took to his Twitter platform to post an image, outlining this major announcement. The Moto X4 handset can be seen with the official Android One branding on the rear panel.

According to a report by Android Headlines, rumors regarding Moto X4 extending its support for Android One have been around since April 2017 when the device was initially launched. At the time of the announcement, Motorola claimed that Moto X4’s US variant would extend support for Google’s Project Fi.

Therefore, the suggestion made by Evan Blass is pretty believable. It is not known for sure whether this innovation will be limited for US markets alone. An international launch might follow if the smartphone does well in the US. Another piece of information that still requires unraveling is the smartphone’s release date. Previous rumors claimed that Motorola might do the honors at IFA, 2017 that concluded on August 31.

However, no such thing took place.

The price, specs and features details

According to what Motorola has to say, the smartphone is headed towards the market in fall. Therefore, it is safe to assume that the handset will be launched this year itself. Since it’s supporting Google’s budget-friendly, Android One program, it surely will be priced low.

The Android Headlines report suggests that the price may be around $400.

The smartphone will come “unlocked.” Major US carriers including T-Mobile, AT&T, and Verizon are expected to put this version of Moto X4 available for purchase, with their respective plans and offers. As far as Xiaomi’s A1 is concerned, the handset has made its way to India.

Falling way within the affordable category, it has managed to become a success among the Indian consumers. Xiaomi is also expected to unveil its Mi Note 3 and Mi Mix 2 smartphones at an event on 11 September. These will fall in mid-range and high-end categories respectively. Their pricing and availability information is not available as yet. But Mi Mix 2 will probably compete with Apple’s (yet to be announced) iPhone 8.
