After a lot of waiting time, Google finally took the wraps off Android Oreo. The update has been deployed on Pixel and Nexus smartphones and comes equipped in Sony’s XZ1 line-up. The rest of the Android-powered devices will probably come equipped with this software too, but the date of availability will vary. A new leak suggests that Huawei’s Mate 10 will pack Oreo with the company’s EMUI 6.0 skin on top. AT&T could ship the phone in the US.

The smartphone is spotted online

According to Android Authority, an unidentified user posted alleged pictures of Mate 10 online.

The images, which first appeared on Chinese website Anzhuo, showcased the Huawei device as running EMUI 6.0 beta program. The firm has implemented many new changes to its EMUI 6.0, especially regarding design and settings. Many believed that the company might launch the smartphone at IFA, 2017. That did not take place and the next date to look forward to is September 2. Huawei is expected to hold a launch event on that day, as its advertisements read.

Apple vs. Huawei

The leak also goes on to reveal that the smartphone will be powered by MediaTek’s Kirin 970 chipset running on a 10nm manufacturing process. The handset, as reported by Tech Radar, is also speculated to come equipped with an enhanced battery life.

The Mobile Indian claims that Huawei might introduce two variants of this device, namely Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro. While Mate 10 will be standard and will feature a 16:9 aspect ratio, Mate 10 Pro will pack a 2:1 aspect ratio with a special bezel-less display. Both the devices have been speculated to come equipped with a fingerprint scanner, located on the rear panel.

On the display front, the device might feature a 6.1-inch display with 2,160 x 1,080 pixels resolution and support for 4K content-viewing experience. The smartphone will offer 6GB of RAM along with 64GB of internal storage. Additionally, Mate 10 may house a decent 4,000mAh battery with Fast Charging technology.

A similar set of specifications are also expected on Huawei’s P11, which is also rumored to launch later this year.

The pricing aspect of either of its handsets hasn’t been known yet. Huawei’s President claims that its Mate 10 will be a worthy competitor to Apple iPhone 8. This has managed to draw a lot more attention to the flagship’s launch. Apple is planning on introducing it's iPhone 8 on September 12, and the company has already begun sending out media invites.
