After the highly anticipated launch of Apple’s iPhone X, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, it’s now time for Google to take the wraps off the next generation Pixel smartphone, possibly dubbed Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL. It is to be noted that Google Pixel was considered as one of the best smartphones of 2016. So, it’s pretty obvious that fans’ expectations from the upcoming smartphone in terms of specs and features are very high.

According to the Guardian, the search engine giant is expected to launch the two new Pixel smartphones and a smaller Google Home Mini smart speaker next week at the Made by Google event, which is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, October 4, 2017, in San Francisco.

Leaked details about the upcoming handsets

The HTC manufactured Google Pixel 2 is expected to feature a 5-inch AMOLED display screen, Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor coupled with 4GB of RAM, a squeezable frame and run on the new Android Oreo software. The handset is likely to get rolled out in two 64GB and 128GB storage variants that will be priced at $649 and $749 respectively. Leaked images published by tech news website, Droid Life, suggest that the smaller Pixel 2017 variant will be offered to buyers in blue, black or white color options.

As far as specs of the high-end Google Pixel 2 XL is concerned, the smartphone is likely to feature a bezel-less 5.7-inch or 5.8-inch AMOLED screen, Snapdragon 835 processor, 4GB of RAM and the latest Android Oreo.

The LG manufactured handset will be made available in 64GB and 128GB storage options, priced at a whopping $849 and $949 respectively. There will only be two color options for the smartphone- Just Black and Black & White.

Notably, both the 2017 Pixel 2 smartphones are rumored to feature an improved single 12-megapixel rear camera.

This means there will not be a dual-camera setup on the upcoming phones. Both phones will be dust and water resistant and will ditch the 3.5mm headphone jack.
