Apple revealed its most highly anticipated devices at its big event on Tuesday. The company revealed the Apple Watch 3 along with three new smartphones, namely the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X. The third generation Apple Watch sports some impressive features. But according to a report from CNBC, the wearable device has a pretty weak battery life. Apple claims that the new wearable device should offer about 18 hours of battery life for mixed usage.

LTE feature

The Apple Watch 3 has a more robust processor that brings new functionality like Siri’s voice embedded directly into the device.

The wearable device has a LTE wireless connectivity, which works even without pairing it to an iPhone. The new wearable device can still be paired to an iPhone. But as soon as the iPhone will get far from the device, the LTE connection will seamlessly kick in.

Users can directly make calls on the Apple Watch by simply by pressing the button on the top-left corner of the device’s face. Users can also browse their favorite and recent contacts. The device will intelligently pick up the user’s voice, so users will not have to hold it up near the mouth. According to The Verge, LTE-equipped Apple Watch Series 3 will run with the WatchOS 4.

Accurate sensors

Apple is set to release the WatchOS 4 on September 19, and it is expected to improve its fitness tracking capabilities.

With the help of the WatchOS 4, the Apple Watch 3 can accurately track a user’s heart rate through its new application. When the heart rate application is launched, it will automatically show the user’s resting heart rate and recovery heart rate. These two types of heart rates indicate an improving or degrading health.

What is an altimeter?

Another addition to the Apple Watch 3 is the altimeter. Fitbit’s wearable devices have had an altimeter for years. This new feature is capable of adding an elevation gain metric, which can track uphill runs more accurately. The device pre-orders will begin on September 15 and shipping will start on September 22.

Apple Watches and other wearable devices cannot replace smartphones and probably never should.

Buyers should take note that the Apple Watch 3 uses the same number that is attached to the smartphone. So, smaller carriers that try to attract customers with lower-priced plans might be out of luck here, since buyers will be forced to use the same carrier they already have. Verizon and T-Mobile are both offering three months of service for the Apple Watch.
