Xiaomi rolled out the Mi Mix Android smartphone last year, which was actually the first mobile device to have a nearly bezel-less design. It appears that the Chinese tech company will go even better with the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 by completely ditching the bezels of the upcoming device.

A new leaked image from the Chinese social media site, Weibo, seems to show off Xiaomi Mi Mix 2’s prototype. Although the leaked photo has been removed, it showed that the mobile device has a bezel-free, all-display design. While the original Xiaomi Mi Mix handset is available with a thin bottom bezel for the front camera, it appears that the Chinese tech firm will launch the new handset without a front camera to completely ditch the bezels.

The original Mi Mix smartphone’s bottom bezel also sports the ambient sensors. The earpiece of last year’s model has a high-tech bone conduction audio technology. There’s a possibility that the upcoming Mi Mix 2 handset will utilize a more advanced version of that technology.

Although the forthcoming mobile device will have an all-display design, rolling out without the front-facing camera appears to be a step backward. However, Slash Gear reported that the tech company might embed the front-facing camera as well as other sensors underneath the handset’s display. That will mean an advanced technology and the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 smartphone could get a lot of attention.

As per the render, the new mobile device still looks a lot like its predecessor, which means the handset would arrive without a forehead.

At the same time, the smartphone seems a lot curvier compared to its predecessor.

GFXBench listing of the smartphone

Nonetheless, the new handset recently surfaced on the benchmark website, GFXBench. The benchmark listing provided some key hardware elements of the company’s next near bezel-less mobile device. The listing seems to indicate that the Mi Mix 2 would be a flagship device, a handset that could give major smartphone manufacturers a run for their money.

Specs of the device

Unless the tech giant opts for metal and glass design, the smartphone might be made out of metal and ceramic. According to Pocket-lint, the device will probably have a 6.4-inch panel. The smartphone will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 system on chip (SoC), coupled with a 6GB of RAM. There’s a possibility that Xiaomi might launch an 8GB of RAM variant. The device will be equipped with a 4,999mAh battery.
