Industry sources close to the matter suggest that Vivo is apparently working on building up a couple of new Smartphones. These devices have been reportedly been named, X20 and X20 Plus and are going to serve as the successors to the ones launched last year in Vivo’s X lineup of smartphones. There haven’t been too many details regarding the same, which has been uncovered as yet. However, several reports have suggested that these devices won’t be launched until the end of 2017 or probably the beginning of 2018. The Vivo X20 and X20 Plus phones will fall in the mid-range category and will come with a revamped design, different from what Vivo usually offers at most times.

A unique device

As reported by Android Soul, the upcoming Vivo X20 and X20 Plus smartphones sport an unusual aspect ratio of 18:9 i.e. 2:1. Such display dimensions have only been spotted in LG’s G5 smartphone before. It is another ball game altogether that the latter falls in the high-end category but since Vivo is known to offer devices with high-end specifications at extremely low prices, it doesn’t necessarily come across as a surprise of sorts. It was previously rumored that the alleged Vivo X20 and X20 Plus smartphones will be called X10 and X11 – since they are expected to serve as the successors to last year’s X9 smartphone. However, the information hadn’t been confirmed by any credible source, let alone the smartphone manufacturer itself.

Features and specs of the smartphone

Apart from this, the devices have been reported to be carrying Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 660 system-on-chip. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC is quite common among mid-range smartphones these days. This only further goes on to confirm that the upcoming Vivo smartphone will be falling in the mid-range category essentially.

Apart from this, the smartphone is expected to pack 4GB of RAM along with 64GB of internal storage. The device will most probably be running on the latest Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system as well. This comes across as quite disappointing as, by the time Vivo introduces these smartphones, Google may have already released its Android O update.

Therefore, it is only natural for the fans to expect the latest software operating system with the smartphones that are introduced post the update is made available in the market. It seems like Vivo will eventually introduce its update towards the end of this year, or perhaps later next year.
