Sony is all geared up for the upcoming IFA 2017 press conference event that is scheduled to kick off on August 30, 2017, in Berlin. The tech giant is expected to unveil three new smart phones at the event namely Sony Xperia XZ1, Xperia XZ1 Compact and the Xperia X.

Handset appears on Geekbench website

According to GSMArena, the highly awaited Sony Xperia XZ1 was recently spotted listed on GFXbenchmarking website carrying two model numbers – G8341 and G8342 with all possible specs and features. As per the listing, the XZ1 will feature a 5.1-inch full HD (1920 x 1080) display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 64-bit octa-core SoC processor and Adreno 540 GPU coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage of which 50GB will be available to the user.

Although the listing did not mention anything about the handset’s battery size, it is expected that the device might come backed by a 3000mAh battery.

Android 8.0 on board

It is worth noting that the benchmark listing showed the handset running on Android 8.0. So, it might be that the XZ1 could be one of the first few smartphones to run on Android 8.0. On the camera front, the Xperia XZ1 is expected to feature a 19-megapixel shooter on the back with auto focus and an LED flash, identical to the camera found in the Xperia XZ Premium. There will be a 13-megapixel front facing camera on board. Both cameras will be able to shoot 4K video. Sony is also expected to include the 960fps slow motion burst feature in the handset.

The fingerprint sensor on the upcoming Sony Xperia XZ1 handset is rumored to be placed on the back of the phone, just below the camera. The smartphone is also likely to get accelerometer, gyroscope, light sensor and proximity sensor. Recently, a couple of alleged pictures of the upcoming smartphone were also spotted online.

The handset is expected to be made available in four color options including Moonlight Blue, Warm Silver, Venus Pink and Black.

Talking about Xperia XZ1 Compact, the handset in question is expected to feature a 4.6-inch a full HD (1920 x 1080) display panel, Android Nougat, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC coupled with 4GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage.

As per GeekBench listing, the smartphone will be fueled by a 2,800mAh battery and feature an 8-megapixel camera on both the back as well as front sides.

Sony has not yet announced anything about the upcoming smartphones, so, readers are advised to take the information with a pinch of salt.
