Samsung’s head has just confirmed they will launch the next generation smartwatch at the Ifa tech show next week. The new wearable would most likely feature health care monitoring.

Samsung head announced the official launch date

The upcoming smartwatch was rumored to make its grand debut yesterday, Aug. 23, at the Unpacked event by Samsung. The theory stemmed from the fact that the gadget has already passed the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), which hints that it is all set to come out. Android Headlines has noted that the new device was spotted recently at the FCC website, revealing the name, Gear Sport.

However, the new wearable did not show up. The most recent report now reveals that the South Korean company has just confirmed the official launch date of the new smartwatch.

In an interview with CNBC, Samsung’s mobile division president DJ Koh announced that they would launch the highly anticipated wearables under the Gear brand next week. Samsung has chosen the upcoming IFA 2017 tech show to be the avenue for the grand launch of the next generation Gear S series of smartwatches. The event is the world’s number one trade show that will open its doors on September 1 in Berlin, and will run until September 6.

The mobile division president did not give out much information on the specs of the upcoming smartwatch.

Koh did not unveil the final name of the new wearable as well. However, he only teased that the next generation Gear S is coming out as a more improved version.

Furthermore, Koh talked about the market growth potential of wearables. He believes that if they could provide a smartwatch that is beneficial to health care, it could play a big factor to grow the demand for their upcoming Gear S4.

He detailed that the new device should be able to monitor and provide all the necessary details about health care.

Would Samsung also launch two new wearables?

Tech analysts could recall that Samsung used the IFA event for the debut of Gear Frontier and Gear Classic smartwatches last year. Speculations are also ripe saying the giant tech company would do the same for its upcoming wearables in this year’s IFA.

Furthermore, Samsung is also expected to launch two new models, the Gear Sport alongside the Gear Fit2 Pro. GadgetsNow has noted that the company has established a Gear Fit2 Pro support page on their official website, suggesting the fitness band is also geared up to launch soon.
