samsung galaxy S8 Active has been officially released in Titanium Gold and Meteor Gray color variants via AT&T. The phone will be available for pre-order on the official website on August 8. The phone can also be purchased on AT&T Next at $28.34 for 30 months upon adding a relevant mobile plan. The handset will be available for purchase from retail stores across the US starting August 11. Touted as the toughest and rugged handset, the Galaxy S8 Active provides a durable solution for those smartphone users who handle the device carelessly.

Tough design

The phone is designed using a metal frame with an enhanced structure. Moreover, the phone is resistant to shocks, water, shatters, and dust via IP68 technology. Design-wise, the Samsung Galaxy S8 Active is manufactured using military-grade materials. The rugged handset features a frame carved out of metal coupled with a bumper to provide adequate protection against abrasion, twisting, tilting, or shock. The rear cover also provides excellent grip because of the rugged nature.

Addition of security features

The newly launched Galaxy S8 Active provides an ability to activate the Hello Bixby home page by simply swiping or pressing a button via Activity Zone. It helps users to work with features such as barometer, compass, stopwatch, and flashlight.

The phone provides support for Samsung Knox security and several biometric features such as fingerprint and Iris scanner.

On the specifications front, the S8 Active features a 5.8-inch QHD Super AMOLED display with 18:5:9 aspect ratio, Snapdragon 835 processor, 4GB, 64GB storage, 12MP rear camera, 8MP front camera powered by a 4000mAh battery.

The highlight of the phone is the addition of the Android Nougat platform coupled with the ability to charge wirelessly.

With support for 5G Evolution, the Galaxy S8 Active ships with a wide range of AT&T-centric services such as NumberSync, Wi-Fi calling, HD voice, voice calling, advanced messaging including enhanced push-to-talk.

It is also possible to make use of apps such as AT&T mobile security and call project to combat unsolicited calls and unsafe apps.

As part of the inaugural offer, AT&T is providing a $750 credit, which can be used to purchase another Samsung smartphone. Moreover, customers can avail a discount of $500 on a Samsung TV. The US-based mobile carrier is providing a free Galaxy S8 when a new AT&T Next line or DIRECTV is added.

In addition to the offers mentioned above, AT&T is also offering Samsung Gear S2 for 99 cents or the Gear S3 for $49.99. The catch is that the customer should purchase the smartphone on AT&T Next with a 2-year agreement. It is also possible to obtain $200 free credits when an eligible smartphone is purchased on AT&T Next or upon exchange of an old handset.
