Earlier this week, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun confirmed that the company will be launching its Redmi Note 5A smartphone on August 21. It has been officially confirmed that the device will sport a 16-megapixel front camera, complemented by an LED flash and three slot trays. However, all the other information has been revealed only through the means of various leaks. It will be an entry-level smartphone.

Price of the device

According to a report published by Gadgets 360, the upcoming Redmi Note 5A is speculated to be priced at $150. The company will be seen introducing two variants of Redmi Note 5A namely, ‘Pro’ that will be the cheaper version and ‘Prime,’ which will be a slightly more expensive one.

As opposed to leading speculations, the Redmi Note 5A will not be featuring a Fingerprint Scanner. Xiaomi will probably introduce three primary color variants of the Redmi Note 5A including, Gold, Rose Gold and Silver. The device was leaked in the form of a TENAA listing last week. Thanks to that, the fans are now aware that the smartphone is going to arrive in two variants. The cheaper variant won’t carry the fingerprint scanner, while the other one will. Apart from this, all the other specifications are expected to be identical in both the devices.

Specs, features and other details of the device

On the basis of the teasers that Lei Jun released, the smartphone is expected to come with a 16-megapixel front and back sensor, with both being accompanied by a soft LED flash.

The device is expected to have a 5.5-inch full HD display, and will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 system-on-chip. The smartphone might offer 2GB of RAM along with 16GB of internal storage. Users will also receive the option of expanding the memory via the device’s microSD card by up to 128GB.

The smartphone is speculated to run on Android 7.1.1 Nougat, which comes across as a major disappointment because Android O is going to release today too.

The smartphone will probably extend support for 4G VoLTE network as well. In terms of dimensions, the device will measure 153.3x76.3x7.31mm and weigh roughly 150 grams. The smartphone is expected to house a 3,000mAh battery. Xiaomi will be launching the device on the Chinese market with immediate effect.
