Hmd Global has officially confirmed that their upcoming Nokia 3 smartphone is going to receive the latest Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system update as early as this month. The company is attempting to fulfill the promise that they had made earlier this year wherein they said that they would be rolling out the latest Android update at a speedier rate. HMD Global’s Chief Product Officer, Jujo Savikas took to Twitter recently to make the official announcement regarding this. He stated that the Nokia 3 device will be receiving the latest Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system update by the end of August.

Android 7.0 Nougat powered device

HMD Global-backed Nokia brand took the wraps off its low-range Nokia 3 smartphone earlier this year. At the time of the launch, the device came equipped with Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box. Now, as the smartphone is going to be receiving the latest Android 7.1.1 Nougat update, it seems like a lot about the change is in terms of user experience. The latest update will notably be bringing several new features to the device, for instance, a new set of emojis, the ability to share GIFs directly through text messages and an enhanced keyboard-writing experience. The smartphone will also be compatible with several other Google apps such as Hangouts, Google Allo, Messenger, and others.

Google also introduced a flurry of new and convenient shortcuts through the latest Android Nougat operating system update. Users simply need to long-press on any app, and they can choose whatever they wish to do with the app – just how it works on Apple’s iPhone devices.

Here are the features and specs

As far as the specifications of the Nokia 3 smartphone are concerned, the device is expected to feature a 5-inch IPS LCD HD display with 1,280 x 720 pixels and an aspect ratio of 16:9.

The smartphone is further powered by MediaTek MTK 6737 clocked at 1.3 GHz clubbed with 2GB of RAM along with 16GB of internal storage. Users also have the option of expanding the memory by 128GB if they’d like via the device’s microSD card slot option. The device houses a 2,650mAh battery and comes with a 3.5mm headphone jack as well.

Nokia first took the wraps off the Nokia 3 smartphone earlier this year, at the official MWC event in Barcelona. As Nokia has already deployed the Android Nougat OS updates, it seems like the future Nokia smartphones will come bundled with the Android O update.
