The LG company posted a press release to announce that its next flagship mobile device will be the first smartphone to utilize a 6-inch screen OLED FullVision display. However, as the tech giant did not indicate what variant will get this treatment, but it is anticipated to be the LG V30 Android smartphone.

The press release of the tech company was vague on what mobile device will arrive with the OLED FullVision Display. Nonetheless, seeing that the LG will announce the V30 smartphone on August 31, it’s very likely that this is the handset that the tech giant is talking about.

Smartphone’s display

The company has described its new mobile device as having a 6-inch OLED display, this could indicate that the smartphone will arrive with a taller 18:9 aspect ratio. The display is expected to arrive with a 2,880 x 1,440 resolution. But, The Verge pointed out that seems like the company is not going to copy Samsung Galaxy S8’s dual curved edge design.

In spite of that, LG made it known that the OLED FullVision display technology is based on P-OLED or plastic OLED. The technology hasn’t been used by the tech giant since the 2015 LG G Flex 2 handset. Since plastic OLED is flexible, this could mean that LG’s forthcoming smartphone will feature curved edges.

However, LG Electronics Mobile Communications President, Juno Cho, stated that an expertise in OLED has long been the company’s core competency and the technology has been spotted as a potential value-add for handsets.

Cho added that with competition in the mobile device industry is fiercer than before, LG believes that this is the right time to relaunch OLED displays in their smartphones.

Specs of the smartphone

With LG launches the V30 smartphone during the IFA 2017 event on August 31, the device will likely go on sale by the end of September.

Nonetheless, according to GSM Arena, the LG V30 will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 processor, Adreno 540 GPU, a 4GB of RAM and a 64GB of internal storage.

Furthermore, the LG V3o will be available with Android 7.1 Nougat operating system, fast battery charging, and a rear fingerprint sensor. In terms of connectivity, the handset is equipped with a 3.5mm headphone jack, Wi-Fi 802.11, A-GPS, and Bluetooth 5.0. The smartphone will be available in three color options, Titan, Silver, and Pink. Also, the mobile device will be built from 6000-series aluminum alongside an IP68 dust and water resistance.
