Apple is set to unleash its iOS 11 operating system this fall alongside the highly anticipated iPhone 8 smartphone. The arrival of Apple’s latest mobile operating system could include facial recognition, augmented reality (AR) support, among others. Some of the iOS 11 features were announced by the Cupertino based tech company at the WWDC 2017 event in June. The update’s features, such as Maps and Apple Pay, could help Apple device users in their everyday lives.

The tech titan already announced its ARKit toolset, which allows developers to bring the augmented reality (AR) apps to iPads and iPhones.

The move indicated that the AR capabilities could soon be available for Apple devices. During the earnings call of the company this week, Apple CEO Tim Cook was enthusiastic about augmented reality. The CEO stated that its ARKit has captured the developer community’s imagination. Cook added that its operating system will become the biggest AR platform as soon as its latest iOS 11 arrives.

According to Financial Times, the tech company is looking into prototypes of AR glasses. One department in the tech giant is exerting an effort on glasses with a 3D camera, but without a screen, which could indicate that Apple device users would have to rely on the screen of the iPhone. However, the glasses could come along with screens, cameras and sensors for an AR experience.

Do Not Disturb While Driving Feature

The iOS 11 is said to be available with a Do Not Disturb While Driving Feature, which is the company’s response to lawsuits against distracted driving. With the feature, the iPhone would sense its user driving with speed detection. Also, the feature sends an auto-reply message if the user receives some texts, which would notify the sender that the user is driving.

As reported by CNET, Apple’s latest mobile operating system will be full of small, subtle tweaks. However, the new iOS is also packed with some big changes that Apple device users will undoubtedly take some time to get used to. With the new OS installed, when a user take a screenshot, a small preview thumbnail will pop up in the device’s bottom-left corner.

Apple Pay feature

One of the most exciting features of the new iOS is the person to person payments by Apple Pay. Users will be able to pay their friends with the feature on iMessage by utilizing Touch ID.

Also, the iOS 11 will be able to help users navigate with Maps. At the moment, the feature is available in New York, London, Tokyo, Boston, and Chicago, but it will be launched in more areas later.
