Google’s next-gen Pixel devices have long been speculated to be in the works, but not a single information about the mobile devices has been officially confirmed. However, the Google Pixel 2 smartphone was recently spotted in an FCC listing, confirming some of the specs of the upcoming smartphone.

The FCC listing made known some of the specs of the highly anticipated Google Pixel 2. The mobile device was spotted running Android 8.0.1, which is Google's upcoming mobile operating system. Value Walk reported that the Google Pixel 2 will be powered by the Snapdragon 835 processor and boasts a 64GB of internal storage.

The new smartphone appears to have twice the base storage of its predecessor.

Device with Active Edge feature

According to Phone Arena, HTC will once again manufacture Google’s handset. The documentation made it known that the manufacturer would bring the Edge Sense feature to the new handset, this feature will allow users to squeeze the handset’s sides to activate certain commands. The listing revealed that the feature will be dubbed as the Active Edge. Although the FCC filing did not mention the name of the handset, certain clues point to the fact that the mobile device is indeed Google’s upcoming Pixel 2.

In terms of design, the leaked images reveal that the new smartphone will resemble the original model.

The only difference of the Pixel 2 might be its much larger camera. However, the search engine giant might have had its own reasons for not featuring an edge-to-edge display to the smartphone, and the bezels of the handset might sport its speakers.

The FCC certification appears to indicate the imminent release of the mobile device.

Although rolling the smartphone out in August might seem a bit unusual, but it could mean that the life cycle of the original device will be 10 months, rather than the typical 1 year.

Specs of the smartphone

Nonetheless, the forthcoming smartphone is expected to arrive with a 4.97-inch FHD display with 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution, protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

The device will also feature a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and an IP68 certification for dust and water resistance.

In terms of connectivity, the Google Pixel 2 will be equipped with a Wi-Fi 802.11, USB Type-C and A-GPS. The mobile device is said to feature BoomSound-style stereo speakers. The smartphone will arrive in three color options - Very Silver, Quite Black and Really Blue.
