Alcatel in an effort to expand its existing portfolio of power-packed smartphones is reportedly working on another edition of its Idol line-up of devices. While the company hasn’t provided any possible details regarding the smartphone, several leaks and speculations have pretty much confirmed the existence of this plan. On the similar lines, an unannounced Alcatel model has been spotted as passing through the official Federal Communications Commission (FCC) website. This smartphone is believed to be Alcatel’s upcoming Idol 5 device, which the company is apparently going to introduce towards the end of this year.

The reason why many believe that the debut-date for Alcatel’s latest smartphone is close is that most smartphones make their last stop at FCC right before they are about to launch in the market. Thanks to the latest FCC listing, the consumers now have an idea of what can be expected from the soon-to-be launched Alcatel Idol 5 smartphone.

The design of the device

The recent FCC listing has not only revealed the possible design of the smartphone but also the major hardware and software specifications of the same. It appears like the upcoming Idol 5 handset is going come packed with metal finishing as well as speaker holes that will be located on the bottom end of the smartphone. Apart from this, the smartphone is carrying the 3.5mm headphone jack on an unusual position on top of the device.

There’s also the power buttons along with the volume rocker buttons situated on the right-hand side of the device. This is accompanied with a SIM/microSD card slot tray on the left side of the handset. The smartphone also comes equipped with a fingerprint scanner located on the back side of the device, right next to the camera sensors.

Specs and features

As far as the other specifications of the upcoming Alcatel Idol 5 smartphone are concerned, the device is expected to feature a 5.2-inch full HD display with 1,920 x 1,080 pixels resolution and will be powered by MediaTek’s MT6753V chipset. On the storage front, the handset is going to pack up 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage.

Apart from this, the device is said to house a 2,710mAh battery and will run on Android 7.0 Nougat operating system. Camera-wise, the smartphone can be expected to feature a 12-megapixel rear shooter along with an 8-megapixel front snapper as well. There seems to be another variant that might be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 system-on-chip.
