There have been a lot of rumors and speculations surrounding ZTE’s plans of unveiling a new product in the near future. Little did the tech-market know, the firm was actually planning on launching a new tablet. If reports are believed to be true, then ZTE is planning on launching a fresh Grand X View 2 tablet in Canada today. The official unveiling will take place through Canada’s local carrier, Bell.

Availability at affordable prices

As reported by Mobile Syrup, the upcoming tablet by ZTE is available at a Starting Price of $179.99 (Canadian dollars).

This approximately translates into around $139 US dollars. The company hasn’t made comments regarding whether they plan on bringing their latest tablet to other markets, as of yet. There is a high possibility that they end up keeping the tablet exclusive to the Canadian market as of now. ZTE’s latest tablet is not quite impressive as far as its specifications are concerned. In fact, it appears like the company has severely downgraded multiple areas of the device. This is especially true when one compares the 2017 version with its predecessor. The former comes equipped with a lower-than-before processor, half the RAM that was packed in the first one, and a display that features lower pixel resolutions.

List of specs and features

According to a report by Android Headlines, the latest ZTE Grand X View 2 tab features an 8-inch display with a resolution of 1,280 x 800 pixels. Furthermore, the device is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 210 SoC along with four CPU cores that are each, clocked at 1.3GHz. Apart from this, the device also packs Adreno 304 for graphics.

On the storage front, the device offers 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. Users have the option of expanding the memory by up to 128GB via its microSD card-slot option. Apart from this, the ZTE Grand X View 2 features a 5MP rear camera coupled with a 2MP front snapper. The device runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat out-of-the-box and houses a large 4,620mAh battery as well.

As can be observed, the latest tablet by ZTE is a clear downgrade from last time’s ZTE Grand X View. The latter came equipped with an 8-inch display with 1,920 x 1,080 pixel resolution and was powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 615 SoC, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage as well. On the camera front, the device packed a 5MP rear camera along with 5MP of front shooter as well. The device is, much like its sibling, packed a large 4,620mAh battery as well. The original model was launched at a price of $240.
