Chinese tech giant Xiaomi has a lot in store for fans. Apart from the rumored launch of the Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5A smartphone, the firm is also expected to unveil the Redmi 5 soon. This article is specifically related to the latest leaks regarding Xiaomi’s Redmi 5 smartphone. The design and specifications of the smartphone recently popped up online. Going on the basis of these speculations and leaks, the upcoming smartphone will be quite a killer mid-range device.

Marks decent specs

According to the leak, Guiding Tech wrote that the alleged Redmi 5 smartphone is expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 625 SoC.

There is also another variant that will be fuelled by the Snapdragon 630 64-bit Octa-core processor. Either way, the device is definitely an upgrade from last year’s Redmi 4 that was powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 435 SoC.

The leak also further goes on to suggest that the device will house a decent 3,680mAh battery. That comes across as a disappointment as last year’s Redmi 4 smartphone housed a large 4,100mAh battery. It’s still unknown why exactly Xiaomi decided to downgrade the battery life in this device.

The smartphone will also apparently extend support for Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging technology. Apart from this, the Redmi 5 smartphone is expected to feature a 5-inch (1,280 x 720 pixel resolutions) display and will offer either 3GB or 4GB of RAM.

The smartphone will further pack 16 GB, 32GB or 64GB of internal storage.

Affordable pricing of the device

Coming to the pricing of the smartphone, the Redmi 5’s cost will vary from variant to variant. The starting price, however, is expected to begin at $125. It will go on to range at around $152. Thanks to the latest leak, the smartphone’s design has also been leaked.

However, there is a high possibility that this is not the final design of the smartphone.

On the basis of the leaked design, it appears that the Redmi 5 smartphone will come packed with a fingerprint scanner located at the back of the smartphone. The device will also further pack capacitive keys. It will sport rounded edges complimented with metal finishings.

A single rear camera is placed on the back of the device. However, this information has no credibility yet so it should be taken a the truth. Meanwhile, more updates from Xiaomi are awaited as what we have heard from the leak is the only information available regarding the device at this time.
