Some days ago LG V10 users received the much awaited Android Nougat update on T-Mobile’s network after waiting for a long time. Now Verizon is rolling out an update for the Lg V20. The premium device users on the network can expect the update to hit their devices soon, although it will of course not bring Android Nougat update.

Verizon updating LG V20

LG’s premium handset from 2016 will be receiving the brand new update from the carrier, and many users may have already received it. It will bring the Android security patch for the month of July across all the units in the United States.

This update will take the build number of the device to VS99515A.

The security patches released by Android is vital in keeping malware attacks at bay while ensuring that the privacy of the handset is not compromised in any way. The July update to security brings in several critical fixes for Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVEs). The most severe issue which the update will fix is related to media framework vulnerability. What this means is that the handset without the update is vulnerable to a hacker, which can through a specialized kind of file execute arbitrary codes in a program under the guise of a privileged process.

The update has been rolled out Over-The-Air or OTA but will take some time before it reaches all LG V20 users on Verizon’s network.

So, do not panic if the notification of the update has not arrived yet. If for some reason, the update is still not arriving after some days; people can go to Settings on their device and from there navigate to About Device. Next, tap System Updates, to check whether the update is available or not.

However, before downloading and applying the update, people need to make sure of some things.

For one, Verizon recommends a strong Wi-Fi connection for the download. Apart from this, ensure that the handset has at least over half its battery charge left while downloading and updating the system.
