Sony is said to be still working on its new Android smartphones, the Xperia XZ1 and Xperia XZ1 Compact. Nonetheless, Sony Xperia XZ1 has surfaced on the benchmarking platform, Geekbench.

Geekbench listing

According to the Geekbench listing, Sony’s new handset will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 processor, coupled with a 4GB of RAM. The Sony Xperia XZ1 was spotted running on Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system. As reported by Playfuldroid, the flagship device has scored 1909 on the single-core test and 6459 in the multi-core test. However, the handset is expected to come along with a 5.2-inch FHD display as well as a 3,000mAh battery.

As the alleged Xperia XZ1 Compact (flagship's compact edition) was seen with Android 8.0, there’s a possibility that this variant will arrive preloaded with Android 8.0 even though the XZ1 smartphone is listed with Nougat on Geekbench. A Polish retailer had also listed the model no. G8341 and G8441 (Xperia XZ1 and Xperia XZ1 Compact) handsets earlier this month, it revealed that the Xperia XZ1 would be up for grabs at €750 or approximately $880, and the mobile device would be coming in four color options, Warm Silver, Moonlite Blue, Venus Pink and Black.

The Compact edition will be the smaller variant and it is also expected to be powered by Snapdragon 835 system on chip (SoC), paired with a 4GB of RAM.

The smartphone will be available with a 4.6-inch HD display with 720 x 1,280-pixel resolution. The Compact will be arriving with a 2,800mAh battery.

However, Android Marvel reported that the handsets would be available with the company’s in-house processor out of the box. Also, the flagships would come with an all-screen front design.

Sony’s upcoming handset is expected to come along with a water and dust resistant. The Japanese tech titan is expected to reveal a new technology, the full pixel continuous and shoot. However, it is unclear as to how the feature will function. On the camera front, the mobile device is expected to have a 19MP camera. The upcoming top-end handset is expected to be recognized for its cameras as well as performance.

Release date of the devices

Tech fans and experts are expecting the tech company to reveal the mobile devices at the world's leading trade show, IFA 2017 event, which will transpire in the first week of September. Apart from this, the company is rumored to be developing the Xperia X Ultra phablet that may be unveiled in the third quarter this year.
