At this point, Samsung hasn’t unveiled the highly anticipated Galaxy Note 8 yet, which is expected to roll out this year. Reports and rumors regarding next year’s Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus Android smartphones have already hit the web. The South Korean tech giant plans to roll out next year’s Galaxy S devices with the same screen size as the current S-series smartphones.

According to The Investor, the tech titan’s Infinity display is anticipated to be Galaxy S9’s staple design feature. However, the company may already have its 2018 flagship mobile devices in development.

The Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus smartphones are expected to have the same screen size as Galaxy S8’s 5.8-inches and Galaxy S8 Plus’ 6.2-inches.

Smartphone’s specs and features

While the infinity display feature is still unconfirmed for the Galaxy S9, the upcoming smartphone is expected to introduce the tech company’s on-screen fingerprint sensor. If the handset does come with the feature, it would be ideal that the tech company will not ditch the fingerprint scanner as a highlight feature. The upcoming device is also expected to be available with thinner bezels.

As reported by the Christian Post, Samsung’s next-generation flagship mobile device has appeared in a brand-new Geekbench listing. The Galaxy S9 was spotted running Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 chipset under its hood.

The smartphone carried the model number SM-G9650, which is in line with the model numbers used in the Galaxy S8 devices.

The Geekbench listing also revealed that the handset will come along with a 4GB of RAM, alongside the Android 7.1.2 Nougat operating system. However, several tech experts believe that Samsung’s next S flagship smartphone will utilize the next-gen Qualcomm Snapdragon processor.

Nevertheless, the forthcoming smartphone will be Samsung’s first mobile device to arrive with a new AMOLED. The handset is anticipated to sport a dual camera setup - a 16MP rear shooter with a dual tone LED flash. Meanwhile, the front snapper is expected to have an 8MP with a single LED flash. Aside from that, the device is expected to be up for grabs with a solid state battery.

Price and release date

As for the price, the S9 variant is expected to have an $849 price tag, while the S9 Plus model may be available at $949. The tech company is expected to unveil the smartphones during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018 event.
