Samsung, earlier this year at the MWC, 2017 conference, announced its flagship smartphone, Galaxy S8, and S8 Plus. The devices were consequently launched for sale at a later date. Following which, reports of the company working on a new addition to its Galaxy S8 family started emerging online.
If reports are believed to be true, then the upcoming smartphone by Samsung is going to be called ‘samsung galaxy S8 Active.’ Details regarding the upcoming smartphone have now apparently appeared on a Chinese social media platform, Weibo.

According to a report published by Fonearena, the information posted on Weibo has pretty much revealed all the major specifications set to arrive in the speculated Galaxy S8 Active smartphone. Several promotional posters carrying the device have also made it online. On the basis of the information provided through the pictures and listings, it is safe to assume that the smartphone is going to be a lot like the Samsung flagship smartphones.
If the information leaked through the website is believed to be true, then the smartphone is also going to come packed with an IP68 certification. In other words, the smartphone will come with water and dust resistant capabilities. Apart from this, all the other specifications remain the same between the smartphones.
For instance, the Galaxy S8 Active smartphone is also going to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 system-on-chip – just like the Galaxy S8.
Overall specs and features
The device is further speculated to pack a 5.8-inch Super AMOLED display with 2,960 x 1,440 pixels resolution as well. The smartphone will further be protected by a layer of Gorilla Glass 5.
On the storage front, the upcoming Galaxy S8 Active smartphone is expected to offer 4GB of RAM along with 64GB of internal storage as well. Users will also have the option of expanding the memory up to 256GB if they’d like.
The smartphone is further expected to house a 4,000mAh battery and will run on the latest Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system.
On the camera front, the smartphone is expected to sport a 12-megapixel rear shooter along with an 8-megapixel front snapper as well.
