Earlier this week, a video leaked of what seems to be the samsung galaxy S8’s tough and bulked up big brother the S8 Active. Today, another set of leaks has been released coming sourced from Chinese Social Media Site Weibo.

Well suited for the Active lifestyle

As the earlier leaks reveal, we now know all the basic specs about the device but how about the certain details that separate this “Active” variant from the original one. According to the leaks, and as expected, the new Samsung Galaxy S8 Active is equipped with IP68 dust and water resistance, giving the device protection even when submerged into water up to 1.5 meters deep, within 30 minutes.

Other than that, a “shatter resistant screen” and an MIL-STD-810G US military standard build, thus improving the phone’s resistance to the elements such as higher and lower than usual temperatures, as well as harsh bumps and drops. Now despite it being a tough nut to crack, it still, hold some design cues from its premium counterpart the Samsung Galaxy S8, specifically its beautiful 5.8-inch 2960 x 1440 Super AMOLED display.

The dimensions of the device are also revealed in the leak. The Samsung S Active series has long been known to be chunkier and bulkier and that formula is applied here as well. The Samsung S8 Active is measured at 5.99 x 2.95 x .39-inches as compared to the regular S8’s 5.86 x 2.68 x 0.31-inches, it is also a tad bit heavier at 7.34-ounces.

The biggest difference and advantage the Samsung Galaxy S8 has over the regular S8 its battery life. The S8 Active packs a bigger capacity for its battery at 4,000mAh, and is even paired with fast wireless charging. The bulk increase certainly did not disappoint as the regular version of the device only comes in at 3,000mAh.

No slouch on performance

The Samsung Galaxy S8 Active packs a ton of flagship power as well. Samsung gears the S8 Active with the exact same internals as the regular S8. The same Snapdragon 835 processor, the same amount of RAM at 4GB, and expandable memory of up to 256GB. On the software side of things, Samsung also equipped the device with the Bixby voice assistant, as well as Android 7.0 Nougat straight out of the box.

Still a top photo snapper!

In the past two years, Samsung's flagship S series has widely been considered as one of the best smartphone snappers in the market. Good News as Samsung is definitely bringing the same 12MP rear and 8MP front camera (both with f/1.7 aperture) from the S*, to the S8 Active.
