Since the day Samsung confirmed the arrival of the Galaxy Note 8, several renders and leaks have come to the surface. The upcoming phablet has been touted as a possible candidate for Samsung’s first dual camera smartphone and is expected to be unveiled on August 23. Till date, many leaked renders have shown different possible designs of the Note 8. However, the latest leaked image of the phablet shows the front portion of the handset in a different light.

Galaxy Note 8 front reveals larger top bezel

The newly leaked image of the Note 8 comes from a smartphone case maker and shows the device sporting a relatively larger Top bezel than what has been depicted till date in previous renders.

It is expected that the top and bottom bezel of the device will be kept at a bare minimum similar to the Galaxy S8 and S8+. The latest leaked image shows larger top bezel and almost non-existent bottom bezel on the alleged smartphone. Although the authenticity of the image is circumspect, however, if this image does prove to be a real deal then Samsung would be breaking tradition by going from an asymmetrical design similar to Chinese OEM Xiaomi.

Xiaomi designed its Mi Mix in a way similar to the alleged image of the Note 8. Xiaomi had covered the front screen all the way to the top in the Mi Mix and had removed all the sensors and the selfies camera from the upper side of the smartphone and had placed it on a larger than usual bottom bezel.

However, given that the selfie camera was placed at the bottom of the smartphone, the pictures captured came out from an awkward angle. However, if the Note 8 goes from the same design but makes the top bezel bigger than the bottom then the selfie problem would be cured. The fingerprint scanner is already said to be placed on the rear panel of the smartphone besides the dual camera setup though at a convenient distance so that this asymmetrical design may work for the upcoming phablet.

Rumored specs and features

It is rumored that the Note 8 will be coming with a 6.3-inch 4K UHD AMOLED display, which will be Samsung’s first commercial display of that kind. Speculations are rife that the phablet will be coming with Samsung’s Infinity Display and will feature the 18.5:9 aspect ratio currently seen in the Galaxy S8 series.

The only specification that has been confirmed by Samsung is the processor that will power the device. The South Korean OEM stated that the handset would be running on Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 or Samsung's own Exynos 8895 depending on the market the device would be released.
