Samsung is known to be quite vague about its updates for all its devices, except the ones that are considered premium or high-end. In case of these higher priced phones, the company has a policy of supporting all new updates that arrives within two years of the release of the device. So, users with a Galaxy S8 for instance will know that they will get all of the security as well as OS updates till around April 2019.

However, this is not the case in terms of Samsung’s low or mid range smartphones. For these devices, there is no established rule which the company follows when it comes to update. The company may offer updates for a long time in some cases but may not do so in case of other devices.
