Samsung has started to roll out voice support for Bixby Digital Assistant for users based in the US. According to reports, the Samsung Bixby, released along with samsung galaxy S8 series will get voice capability for English users in the United States. Currently, the voice support is limited to users based in Korea. However, the company has released the feature in a preview mode only for pre-registered users.

According to Samsung, the Bixby voice support enables users to swap between voice commands, vision, text, and touch. If you have Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ smartphone, you already have access to Bixby which can identify objects.

You can easily fetch information just like you do with the competing assistants such as Cortana, Siri, and Google Assistant.

Perform tasks easily

With voice support, you will be able to ask Bixby to complete simple tasks from within the phone. You can capture selfies, activate lights and much more. It is also possible to type content via voice for sending SMS. The possibilities are endless and it's up to you to decide how to work with the Bixby voice assistant.

Support for third-party apps

Meanwhile, Samsung will also integrate support for native and third-party apps. However, the list of supported apps will be limited. To work with Bixby, you need to press the dedicated Bixby button. You can also active by saying "Hi Bixby" over the phone.

Natural language recognition

Bixby has been designed in such a way that it can understand natural language. Hence, you can speak naturally. There are no pre-defined sentences which you need to make use of. Initially, you will face difficulties. However, with the passage of time, you will be able to work easily with Bixby. The voice assistants require few days to understand your accent and tone properly.

We don't have any information as to when Samsung will extend the Bixby's voice functionality to other regions and languages. Samsung is of the opinion that Bixby is not limited to smartphones. There are reports that Bixby could be expanded to television, smart fridges and other consumer electronics.

Expect Bixby in more smartphones

Samsung Bixby is currently available only on the Galaxy S8 series smartphones released in February 2017. Moreover, you will find Bixby infused on to the Galaxy Note 8 smartphone expected to launch on August 23 in New York. You will also find Bixby in all the upcoming smartphones such as Galaxy S9 series, which will be unveiled in February 2018.

There are also widespread reports on the rumor mills that Samsung is also planning to launch a dedicated Bixby-enabled speaker identical to that of Amazon Echo, Google Home, and Apple HomePod.

If you are located in the US, you should check the presence of the Bixby's voice calling update from your Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ smartphones. You should note that the update is being rolled out via OTA. Hence, it will take few days for the update to hit your smartphone.
