The HMD Global company will finally unveil its flagship handset, Nokia 8, on August 16. The Finnish company will announce the mobile device at a press event in London. However, the announcement will mark the first Nokia-branded Android smartphone with Carl Zeiss optics.

The popular Finnish company has already sent out the media invites for the event. Interestingly, before the announcement, several leaks and rumors have already suggested some features for the mobile device. Some recently leaked photos even hinted Nokia 8’s color variant.

According to Economic Times, aside from the handset’s bezel-less design and dual speakers, the Nokia 8 will be the first Nokia-branded mobile device to roll out with the Zeiss camera since the company launched the Nokia Windows handsets a few years ago.

Nonetheless, tech fans will finally get the real image of the new smartphone next month.

Specs of the device

HMD Global collaborated with the German manufacturer Zeiss to produce the new Nokia 8. However, Science Times reported that the mobile device would come along with a 13MP dual rear camera, 5.3-inch Quad HD IPS display with 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution. With the Nokia 8 packing the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset, the device could offer good performance.

The smartphone might be available with a 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage, but Gadgets 360 reported that a 6GB of RAM and 8GB of RAM models are also expected to be rolled out later. The dimensions of the handset are anticipated to be at 151.55x73.7mm.

The Nokia branding is spotted on the front and back of the device.

As the power and volume buttons are located on the right edge, the 3.5mm audio jack will be on the top edge of the handset. The Nokia 8 is also expected to be equipped with a Micro USB port.

Leaked photos of Nokia’s flagship smartphone on Baidu forums hinted that the mobile device would have a glossy and gold-colored back.

However, the tech giant is expected to produce another two different color options, silver, and blue.

Furthermore, the soon-to-be-unveiled smartphone is anticipated to come along with a microphone port and speaker grill. The mobile device will have Android’s vanilla version. The essential part of this version is that it includes all essential security updates.

Smartphone’s price

In terms of price, the Nokia 8 will be up for grabs at EUR 589 or approximately $688. The price tag of the device is not as expensive as the flagships of Samsung and Apple but does fall in the premium price range.
